WHERE DOES IT COME FROM

FIND Food Bank distributed over 6.5 million pounds of food last year

1/3 comes from donated products

1/3 comes from USDA

1/3 comes from our Food Rescue Program and Local food

HOW DO WE RECEIVE IT?

* All rescue food must be cleaned, checked for expiration, categorized and then placed into inventory either via weight or count.

Food Donations: A number of large food producers donate slow moving/ close to expiration items

USDA: Predicated on the government’s observation of need and financial ability. “ Emergency

90 Agencies currently and proposed to grow to 115 before the end of 2010

Our non profit agencies come to the warehouse and obtain products that meet their needs.

  • Kid friendly snacks and meals that require no preparation
  • Soup kitchen size #10 cans/ large bags of produce/ product
  • Senior brown bag– low sodium and cholesterol type products.
  • Easy to prepare Pantry type products for our working poor families

Food from FIND Food Bank is distributed to the poor, the working poor, seniors, children, homebound and homeless.  Food distributed is viewed as a “Unit of Service”.  The unit could consist of a bag, box or a meal.  This is determined by where the client obtains their food.

Currently FIND has a network of 90 no-profit agencies who pick-up food at our Indio warehouse facility and distribute the food to area food insecure clients.  By year end we anticipate that the net work of agencies will grow to over 115.
