HOW DO WE RECEIVE IT?
Food Rescue: 5 Full time FIND Food Bank trucks pick-up surplus food at local area stores daily.
* All rescue food must be cleaned, checked for expiration, categorized and then placed into inventory
either via weight or count.
Food Donations: A number of large food producers donate slow moving/ close to expiration items
USDA: Predicated on the government’s observation of need and financial ability. “ Emergency
90 Agencies currently and proposed to grow to 115 before the end of 2010
Our non profit agencies come to the warehouse and obtain products that meet their needs.
- Kid friendly snacks and meals that require no preparation
- Soup kitchen size #10 cans/ large bags of produce/ product
- Senior brown bag– low sodium and cholesterol type products.
- Easy to prepare Pantry type products for our working poor families
Food from FIND Food Bank is distributed to the poor, the working poor, seniors, children, homebound
and homeless. Food distributed is viewed as a “Unit of Service”. The unit could consist
of a bag, box or a meal. This is determined by where the client obtains their food.
Currently FIND has a network of 90 no-profit agencies who pick-up food at our Indio warehouse facility
and distribute the food to area food insecure clients. By year end we anticipate that the net
work of agencies will grow to over 115.
